Welcome to Second Grade!

Congratulations! You are now an official Second Grader! This will be such an exciting year for you! You will be learning so many things! I've spent most of my summer preparing the classroom just for you this year! You will find that many things that we do are familiar from your First grade year.   However, there will be many changes that you will soon learn about.

Here are some things that I would like you to know before you walk into the Second Grade classroom.

When you walk into the Second Grade classroom on the first day of school you are no longer a First Grader. You become an officail Second Grader. This means that you are older, stronger, smarter, taller and more mature than a First Grader.

We will be working very hard this year. You will be learning more about Science and Social Studies. We will begin cursive writing and by Easter, everyone in the class will have a chance to earn an official license to write in cursive! We will begin the year reviewing the math you learned in First grade and as the year goes on you will learn more and more. Don't forget phonics! Of course we will have P.E. and computer twice a week.

I am looking forward to having you in class this year. Make sure you take time to read 15 minutes at home each day! We're going to have a great year!
