President’s Day Project
Each student in grades 5 and 8 will be researching the life of one of the U.S. Presidents. It is your job to write a three paragraph essay. Focus on the things that are interesting to you.
Paragraph One—Their Life
**dates of birth/death
**where they were born/where they are buried
**family (wife/children)
**facts about their parents
Paragraph Two—Their Presidency
**What are they remembered for as President?
**Famous people they worked with (around the world)
Paragraph Three—The U.S. during this time
**What were the fads/trends of the U.S. at this time?
**What was going on in the lives of Americans?
**Did the people like the President then?
**What do people think on him now?
With your essay also include a picture of your president from one of these choices:
**hand drawn
**collage (see the book “What the Presidents are Made Of”)
**full page drawing of only his head
