Get to know Mrs. Densmore

Hello and welcome to 6th grade. My name is Amanda Densmore and I grew up in Altamont, IL, where I attended Altamont Lutheran Interparish School for grades K-8 and Altamont High School. I went to on to attend Concordia University, River Forest, IL, where I received a BA in Secondary Education. I completed my Master's in Middle Level Education through Walden University in April 2010.

My first call was to St. John Lutheran School in Ocala, FL, where I taught grades 5-8 various subjects.  Then I moved to St. John’s Lutheran School in Red Bud, IL, and taught 6th-8th grades, primarily Language Arts.  I have been at Zion since 2006 teaching 6th grade.  This school year (2012-2013) will be my seventh year teaching at Zion.  I feel very blessed to be part of God’s work here at Zion Lutheran Church and School.

I am married to Patrick and we live in Pocahontas, IL, on five acres of land with a Black Lab mix named Macey. We enjoy family gatherings (as we both have large families), antiquing, traveling, baking, and, every once in a while, just staying home! I also enjoy reading, especially kids books and books about history.

One of my favorite Bible verses is Philippians 4:13 "I can do everything through Him who gives me strength."

Here are two pictures from our vacation to Hawaii a few summers ago.

A rainbow--God's Promise                                                      God's beautiful creation

One of my favorite activities here at Zion is coordinating Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart.  Here's a picture of the 8th graders from the 2012 event to remind us why we do this--to improve Heart Health!
